Previously, I wrote an article on GMAT 2009 for working professionals planning to do MBA abroad specifically top MBA colleges in US. This article will be useful for college students (B.E, B.Tech, B.Com, B.A etc) in their final year and working professionals who are planning to pursue MBA from top B schools in India.
As you all must be aware that IIM CAT goes online in 2009 but it is still not clear what exactly will be the format of CAT 2009 exam. Recently, there was an article in one of newspapers which said that Online
CAT 2009 will be of same format as GMAT and although the toughness level will be same for every IIM CAT aspirant.
One of the graduate students was quoted as saying: “In
Online CAT it would be difficult to solve Data Interpretation (DI) and Data Sufficiency (DS) questions. The toughness level of Online CAT 2009 will automatically increase.”
Well to some the student was correct because the format is unpredictable so it might seem to be tough but then we can’t just waste time in speculation. So my suggestions to all those who are planning to do MBA from top b schools in India such as IIM Ahemdabad (IIMA), IIM Bangalore (IIMB), IIM Calcutta (IIMC); NITIE, Mumbai; SP Jain, Mumbai; FMS and MDI, Gurgaon, then these are few things that you should be doing:
1. Devote 3-4 months on Online CAT preparation. Prepare for Online CAT in the same way as you would have
done in 2008. No need to worry too much about the format.
2. Special focus should be on
CAT Quant Section and CAT Data
Interpretation section. Search for sites providing free Online CAT question bank to get accustomed to the
online format.
3. Practice CAT Online Tests. There are many sites that provide free
CAT Online tests. Just do google search.
4. Join Online Test Series to evaluate your preparation. This you can do just 1 month before Online CAT 2009
exam.
Hope this article was useful.
