Today, at about midday, I watched a film on TV. It was filmed and directed by Eliseo Subieda in 1996; it is called “Despabílate Amor”. . You can enjoy Mario Benedetti’s poems all through the film. Darío Grandinetti, Soledad Silveyra and Juan Leyrado are the main characters.
It is about a married man –Juan Leyrado - who feels a wave of nostalgia for the past. He remembers Rock’n’Roll as the most fashionable subject of his youth. He always dances it with his beloved wife-Soledad Silveyra- All of a sudden, he decides to organise a Rock’n’Roll party (asalto) as he used to do in the ‘60s. He gets in touch with some old friends, to whom he hasn’t seen for ages, and invites them in order to revive those days. Darío Grandinetti is one of those friends, and he is particularly especial since he had been Soledad’s first boyfriend. All the people in the story start feeling caught with the same sense of nostalgia.
This film shows what to be a 16-year-old-person meant in the ‘60s, and what, after 25 years, the same person is like.
I liked it very much that I wanted to share it with you. It is worth watching it.

Shame on me! Still haven't watched it despite the wonderful reviews it has had.
It is on my list of things to do on holidays.
