Facilitating Connections and Community for Educational Bloggers Worldwide

I have a new group of teachers who started an Intel course last week, and I got them all signed up to edublog. I am hoping to encourage them to blog at a new joint blog and I'd appreciate some fellow educators popping over in the next week or so and offerring them some encouragement, comments etc Thanks in advance!!

Hi Suzanne -- tried to add the URL for the blog to Google Reader but it won't detect the feed at the moment? Any way for other Feed readers you will need to create a feed so probably worth creating one using Feedburner and adding to the blog.

Also was going to comment that you could save PowerPoint as jpeg and then use as images in MovieMaker but was not sure which post to add it to or if this had already been covered?

Id add it to the original post that mentions the question, and even if its been mentioned, I want to show them the potential of the education netwrok out there, so having someone they dont know reply with help would be great.

hmm, I thought amy wordpress blog (which edublogs is) automatically had a feed if you select that option. Ill go back and check the options, but IM fairly sure it adds ot my bloglines without any trouble... Ive never used feedburner.

Actually it depends on your Feed Reader. Google Reader, Bloglines and Netvibes automatically locate the feed if you add the URL of the blog. Other Feed Readers won't and as not all of your readers use the Feed Readers I have listed that is why it is worth adding a RSS feed to your site which is why I use Feed Burner. I have checked the feed again from your joint blog and I still am unable to get Google Reader to detect the feed.

If you want to read more about different feed reader I have my road test here.

not sure why it wont show up in google reader...the rss function is turned on. I wonder if my other edublog works...? Anyway, I have added it to feedburner, but now Im a little unsure what to do. Edublogs doesnt allow any plugins that it hasnt provided...and I cant see one for RSS feeds.

Yes Suz it is definitely confusing. What you need to do once you have created the feed is click on the Publicize tab on the top of the menu in your Feedburner dashboard then click on Chicklet chooser. I use the first Feed icon (check my site) and then go to the bottom of the page and copy the HTML code. Go to your blog dashboard and click on Presentation and then themes. Add a Text box to your side Menu and paste the HTML code into the text box. Then press save.

Also worth adding an email subscription option to your site. Click on the link just above Chicklet chooser. Hope this helps -- let me know if you need more help.
