This book is really interesting. Most of the topics written by Paul Auster about the end of the world we live in were predicted in the Bible and by Nostradamus. In addition to this, this book inspired many movies that deal with the same topic. ABSENT FRIENDS

I think that every characters are absent friends. Each of them has his own conflict and things to hide under the carpet.
If I compare Collins with the rest of the friends, I can say that Collins is in the best position. He lost his girlfriend but he finds his comfort remembering the past.
